St. Patrick’s Festival
St. Patrick’s Festival (downtown Dublin) – this is a four-day event (March 14-17), where downtown Dublin comes alive with pageantry, carnivals and free entertainment. The principal aim of St. Patrick’s Festival, since its inauguration, is to develop a major annual international festival around the national holiday over which the ‘owners’ of the festival, the Irish people, would stand proud. It sets out to reflect the talents and achievements of Irish people on many national and world stages, and it acts as an exciting showcase for the manifold skills of the people of Ireland, of every age and social background.
The Greening of the City: Dublin’s most famous buildings are illuminated in green: Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral and Trinity College, among others.
Funfairs: A major festival favorite, the funfairs will light up the city with top notch carnival fairgrounds.
Irish Craft Beer Village: Sample Irish craft beers and artisan food while taking in the live music at the Irish Craft Beer Village.
St. Patrick’s Festival 5k Road race: runners can take part in this 5k race along with families and dedicated athletes.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Irish and Irish expats – especially from America and elsewhere, take part in this major parade. Even high school marching bands from U.S. participate.
